Thanks for posting this. In a way it does feel like a silent epidemic is staying largely silent. I have talked with you about the future of HS journalism and now fear for its continuation.

But at the same time, we have to recognize the surge of technology; blogging, internet, twitter, etc. as one part of this cause. What we are so eager to develop and use means the disappearance of something else. As sad as it is, there is an evolving taking place. Where will it continue?

This documentary is pretty much the exact format I would like to get my news in. If there was a Rockey Mt. News RSS feed that provided me with stories in a variety multimedia formats of this quality I would be all over it.

Very sad to watch these two videos, Bud. One of speakers described newspapers as “being the pulse of the nation.” I’d add to that that newspapers define the uniqueness of a community. And that’s a loss.

  4. It’s really interesting. Yesterday the editor of our local newspaper wrote an article about the Last Edition of The Rockey and today thanks to technology(!) I have access to this touching video. I am down here in Brazil, in the interior of the State of Sao Paulo – a small town (about 350,000 inhabitants). It’s sad to see that and at the same time we hope there’ll be a solution for this kind of problem so other traditional institutions do not have to pay such a high price and manage to survive the modern times.
