		<description>I&#039;m not sure about the analogy of &#039;learning in a bottle&#039; but agree that expressing (eg speaking and writing) is an essential component of learning.

Collaborative writing is a great tool but shouldn&#039;t replace individual, reflective writing: they both have a place.</description>

		<description>I am in alignment with Peter Elbow who argues that we should put writing first.  Not that kids are good readers by any means but he feels that our students don&#039;t read as well as they should because they do not write enough.  The potential for writing to learn is immense.
