You have done an amazing job with getting your students engaged in blogging, something they do often, I'm sure. You have inspired me to think outside the box and use more technology with my students.

Fried Like Chicken

This heat came suddenly,
so we're in the oven right about now,
wondering when the cold might snap back
into place --
even as we know this change is exactly
what we had been hoping for
and to wish otherwise seems like
Sunday morning blasphemy.

She's our own little pussy-cat
Wanting a feed,
She admits it's medicinal
Denies that it's greed;
When the meat is best steak
She prefers a good tin,
If the fish is fresh hake
She'd rather have gin.

Time to go out now
She waits at the door;
When the door's open
She slinks to the floor;
If the door's fastened
She's needing quite badly,
Off she goes hastened
Running out madly.

She's waiting outside next
Scratching the pane;
Round to the front door
Dodging the rain;
Trips through the back door,
Out the same way,
Taps on the back door,
Back in again.

Her passion for sleep
Means she will choose
Most of her keep
Having a snooze
Up in the garden
The Sun to admire,
Or down on the lamb's-wool
Flaked by the fire.
