How much time do you not have to respond to this prompt today?

Time
Time … time?
who needs time
when I’ve got my mind
running circles before the sun comes up –
it’s just me and the moon
and the cat, if you count living things that crawl into your thoughts,
and all that silence makes for a canvass full of nothingness
just waiting for words.
I come here looking for images
only to find letters
so I close my eyes
and concentrate on time.

Minutes, seconds, hours
Time so present but so elusive
So quick to move forward and never return
My whole being cries out
Carpe Diem
And I know I must
Because I am the master of my time

Without time for a poem
Our minds will stop growin’
The rub, while not right,
Is that even to write
Doesn’t stop time a goin’

Day of meeting hell
At its end, a small poem:
What could be better?

Time
A shooting star.
Did you stop to enjoy it?
If not,
Was it ever really there?

If words would arrange themselves on the page
Mary Poppins toy soliders
Dutifully responding to a sharp hand clap
I would have plenty of time
But the soldiers have gone AWOL
Broken Vietnam vets
Commanding them is arduous
I have all the time in the world and none at all

The Laundry Will Still Be Laundry Tomorrow
Somewhere upstairs,
(13 steps)
There is a shirt
(Many shirts)
That are in need of attention
(Dirty shirts)
Not tonight.
But this poem
(Short poem)
Got written,
Instead.

Tick, tock.
Drip, drop.
It’s all the same
when the washer overflows
and steals spring break.
Cry, scream.
Laugh, giggle.
At least the floors are clean.

Dishes to do,
Reflections to ponder,
Hours so few,
Questions to wonder,
Diiner to cook
Email to read
Do have time for a book
Groceries I need
Laundry to fold
Lessons to write
A baby to hold
No wonder I am exhausted at night
